The Volcanids are one of the four races known as the Fused Elementals, corresponding to the element of fire. They were created when the spirits of Fire Snails became overloaded with fire magic during the Elemental Incursions. They are a reclusive people, preferring to stick to tight-knit communities as opposed to interacting with those they aren't familiar with. Volcanids consume minerals instead of organic material, using any metals they can't digest to form the armour that shells most of their bodies.
Because they cannot eat organic materials, Volcanids must make their homes in rocky regions such as caves and mountains. Being creatures of fire, they are also comfortable in hot environments. Most commonly, their communities are built in volcanic areas, or within the Depths.
